The Explore Portal function is only available if it has been activated by the database administrator your institution. If the Safari Books Online database at your institution only contains a selection of books, then the Explore Portal enables you to search the whole Safari collection. You are then able to suggest new titles to be included at your institution.
1. If the Explore function is activated, then you will see the Explore button on top of the Result page. When clicking the Explore button a pop-up window will appear. Click the Explore button again on the pop-up window. You will be automatically logged out from your institution account and directed to the Explore Portal.
2. On the Explore portal you will be able search the complete collection of books available in Safari Books Online. You can use basic search or advanced search.
3. In order to send your librarian a title suggestion, click on a book cover image or a section link on the Result page. On the Catalog page you will then find a Suggest this title button. Fill in your name and emailadress. Clicking this button will send an email to the administrator responsible for your institution's Safari Books Online subscription. They can notify you via email when the book is available.
You are also able to click the Start Reading button, to see a preview version of the book (the pages are cut in half) on the Content Reader first, before you click the Suggest this title button.
4. When you are done, click on the Return to Academic Portal link, to go back to the Safari Books Online database of your institution.
